Jene McCarty, 64

Jene A. McCarty, 64, Marion, died at 9:05 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, at Northern Indiana Regional Veterans Center in Marion.  He was born Sept. 18, 1950 in Wabash, to John W. and Jacqueline (Sherman) McCarty.

Jene graduated from Wabash High School in 1968, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Vietnam.  He was a welder.  He loved his dog "Stoney" and was a friend to all.  Jene didn't know a stranger, enjoyed going to Myers in Marion for coffee, and talking with his friends.

He is survived by his siblings, Judith (McCarty) Snowberger and John M. McCarty, both of Wabash; and Janis (McCarty) Taylor and husband James, Kokomo. Also surviving, to cherish his memory, are his nieces and nephews, Lonnie (Beth) Snowberger, Robin (David) Helsel, both of Wabash; Angela (Tony) Persson, Vara, Sweden; Lane Devin (Stephanie) Snowberger, Fort Wayne; Gary (Linda) Taylor, Indianapolis; and Greg Taylor, Kokomo. Eight great nieces and six great nephews also survive him, along with his special friends Darvin Crace and Bobby Taylor.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Falls Cemetery, Wabash.

Preferred memorials are the Wounded Warrior Project or the Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
