Scouts receive Duke grant


Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana recently received a $5,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) in Cass, Fulton, Huntington, Kosciusko, Miami, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties.

The GSLE focuses on building skills in four areas: STEM, the outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship.

Highlights of recent Girl Scout troop activities held in these counties included (photos attached):

– Elizabeth Grandstaff with Girl Scout Troop 00106 did a community service project that recognized Logansport

Police Department officers with an appreciation candy bag.

– Troop 53015 in Huntington County held a bridging ceremony this summer.

– Keely Roe, a Girl Scout alum from Warsaw, was one of seven girls in 2023 to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award. She also received a $10,000 Gold Award Scholarship from Girl Scouts of the USA and served as a delegate at the National Girl Scout Convention in Orlando, Florida.
