Balanced scoring lifts Knights over Northwestern

The Southwood boys basketball team won their 5th straight game Saturday, using a balanced scoring attack in a 57-51 road win over Northwestern.

The Knights had six players score in the game, with four being in double figures.

The game was tight the first three quarters as Southwood led 16-15 after the first stop, but trailed 29-28 at the half.

The two teams would trade blows in the third, playing to an 18-18 tie with Northwestern leading 47-46 with a quarter to go.

The Knights would then flex their muscle in the fourth, out scoring Northwestern 11-4 to pick up their 9th win of the season.

Leading the Knights was Alex Harmon and Corey Phillip with 14 points each. Harmon added 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 6 blocks. Phillipy had 5 rebounds, 1 assist. Jackson Blair had 12 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal. Luke Elliott had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal. Ross Phillipy had 4 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block. Zach Hobson had 3 points, 1 steal. Noah Kirk had 1 rebound. Logan Paris had 2 rebounds, 1 block. Brett Wyatt had 1 assist.

The junior varsity was defeated by Northwestern 49-35.

Matt Cox led Southwood with 12 points, 3 assists, 4 steals. Clay Hinrichsen added 7 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 2 steals, 3 blocks. Jacob Lloyd had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals. Brandin Frazier had 5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists. Blake Martz had 2 points, 2 steals. Paul Farlow had 2 points. Andrew Finicle had 1 rebound. Jeffery Finicle had 1 point, 1 rebound. Drew Hileman had 1 assist. Christian Deeter had 4 rebounds.
