Lilly Irene Overman, 74, Wabash, died at 11:02 a.m., Dec. 29, 2013 at Wellbrooke of Wabash. She was born July 7, 1939 in Wingate, to Edgar and Dorothy (Utterback) Steele.
She was a 1956 graduate of Whites High School. She married Gene Paul Overman in Wabash County, on Nov. 16, 1957; he died Nov. 25, 2003. She was a dispatcher for the Wabash County Sheriff Department 28 years, retiring in Nov. 2007, and gave the Christmas Dispatch every year. She was a member of the Indiana Sheriffs Association. Lilly enjoyed working, reading, writing, and loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Eric (Tami) Overman, and Darcy Corn, both of Wabash, Shawn (Christopher) Good, Lagro, and Kyle Overman, Urbana; seven grandchildren, Tobey (Darrin) Allen, Atoka, Tennessee, Abigail (Justin) Harper, Fort Wayne, Megan (Todd) McKillip, Wabash, Dexter Good, Bloomington, Chelsea Good and Hayden Good, both of Lagro, and Bryan Corn of Wabash; four great-grandchildren, Landon, Caroline, and Julie Allen, all of Atoka, and Ryker McKillip of Wabash, and 2 brothers, Cecil (Arlene) Steele, Danville, and Arnett Steele of Evansville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Bruce Hostetler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at the funeral home.
