Willard Hackworth, 79, South Whitley, died on June 26 at 4:10 a.m. in his daughter’s home in North Manchester.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1934 to Brady and Glatha (Shepherd) Hackworth. On Dec. 2, 1954, Willard married Ann R. Meadows. She died Dec. 3, 2004.
Mr. Hackworth worked as a farmer and retired after 30 years from Manchester Foundry, North Manchester. He also worked with his brother-in-law at Meadows Well Drilling.
Willard enjoyed flower gardening, playing the harmonica and repairing and selling bicycles. He loved his dogs. He has one deceased granddaughter.
He is survived by his children, David (Sheila) Hackworth, Silver Lake; Jerry (Debbie Gilbert) Hackworth, Mentone, Ind.; Mrs. Wayne (Luci) Staton, North Manchester and Mrs. Rick (Christine) Manns, Akron, Ind. One daughter, Robin Lynn Hackworth, is deceased. He also has nine brothers, three sister, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on June 29 at McKee Mortuary. Rev. Craig Arnett officiated the service. Burial followed at South Whitley Cemetery.
