Gerald C. Carlin, 86, a former Warsaw and North Manchester resident, passed away on June 15 at 10:15 a.m. at Parkview Oaks Healthcare, Columbia City. He was born July 3, 1926 to Ray and Estella (Evans) Carlin.
A farmer for many years, in the 1950s, he owned and operated the Shell Gas Station in Warsaw. In the 1960s, he drove milk truck for Kraft Co. and was employed with Degoods Tractor Sales, both in Warsaw. For 22 years he was employed with Gast Fuel and Service, Warsaw. From 1991-1998, he owned the East End Lunch at North Manchester. He married Myrna Rae Bauer on Oct. 19, 1952. She died June 20, 2006.
He is survived by four sons, Roy Carlin, North Manchester, Alton (Janice) Carlin, Warsaw, Ken Carlin, Wawaka, and Harold (Laurie) Carlin, Mentone; two daughters, Karen (Bob) Fawcett, North Manchester and Sue (Randy) Simpson, South Whitley; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 1 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 18, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Warsaw.
