Josephine Fordyce, 90, Wabash, died at 2:50 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Miller's Merry Manor East in Wabash. She was born May 16, 1923 in LaFontaine, to Glen and Dolly (Smith) Palmer.
Josephine was a 1941 LaFontaine High School graduate. She retired from the Federal Civil Service, where she worked as a government inspector. She was a member of the Wabash Women of the Moose. Josephine collected teddy bears, and enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, flowers, gardening, and her parakeet.
She is survived by three children, Linda (David) Lambert, Mary Esther, Fla., Larry (Jennie) Fordyce, Crestview, Fla., and Robert (Dawn) Fordyce, Yorba Linda, Ca.; 11 grandchildren, Jerry (Ruth) Honeycutt, Wabash, Melinda Slaughter, Fishers, Todd (Trish) Honeycutt, Milton, Fla., Randy Honeycutt, San Diego, Ca., Grady (Teresa) Lambert, Grotton, Mass., Mary Lee Lambert, Destin, Fla., Chad (Cindy) Fordyce, Fort Wayne, Angie (Jamie) Brewer, Marion, Erik (Sara) Fordyce, Crestview, Trent (Terri) Fordyce, Irvin, Ca., Kerri Fordyce, Yorba Linda; 19 great grandchildren, one great great grandson; two sisters, Susan Shaw, Wabash, and Adeline (Leonard) Sellers, Pierceton, and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Welsh, Peru. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Denney and Betty Jean Welsh.
Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash on Tuesday, June 18, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Tim Prater and Pastor Ed Ensley officiating. Burial will be in LaFontaine I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
