Clarence Smith, 101, of Huntington, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, at Heritage of Huntington.
He was born on Sunday, Sept. 17, 1911, in Huntington County.
Clarence graduated from the Jefferson Township High School Class of 1930. He married Mary Eloise Bricker on Tuesday, March 1, 1932 in Andrews. He was a farmer and also worked at Bentz Construction as a carpenter. He retired from Memcor in Huntington. Clarence enjoyed fishing, woodworking, mechanics and traveling. Clarence was a Bible scholar and much loved Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by his four daughters, Carol Buzzard, Huntington, Mary Yeiter, Warren, Janet Smith, Mesa, Ariz., Marjorie (Val) Hafen, St. George, Utah; a sister-in-law, Winifred Smith, Warren; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Smith, his mother, Mabel (Spahr) Smith, his wife, Mary Eloise (Bricker) Smith, his brother, Lawrence Smith, his sister, Lesta Detamore, his sister, Helen Keller, and his brother, William Smith.
A service to celebrate Clarence’s life will be held at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 23, with Pastor August Hacker officiating. Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory.
