Emmert Rice, 79

Emmert Franklin Rice, 79, North Manchester, died July 26, 7:35 p.m., at Timbercrest Healthcare Center.

He was born Dec. 15, 1930, in Burkettsville, Md., to Aaron and Estie (Guyton) Rice. He married Dorothy Wenger on June 15, 1957; she survives.

Mr. Rice earned a BA in Music Education from Bridgewater College and attended Bethany Seminary in Chicago, Ill. He was a forecast analyst for Sears Roebuck, Chicago, Ill., for 30 years. He was also a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Dwayne (Sherry) Rice, Lake Villa, Ill.; two daughters, Sharon (Fred Galluzzo) Rice, Elmhurst, Ill., and Diane (James) Mikols, Westmont, Ill.; a brother, Ernest (Phyllis) Rice, Westminster, Md.; two sisters, Eileen Stall, Walkersville, Md., and Pauline Duble, Thurmont, Md.; and a granddaughter, Lauren Rice Eby, Boston, Mass. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Aug. 1, 3 p.m., at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Borgmann officiating. Calling will be Aug. 1, one hour prior to services, at the chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Manchester Church of the Brethren Memorial Garden.
