Barbara J. Hiatt, 78, North Manchester, died July 20, 11:30 p.m., in her residence.
She was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Somerset, to Kenneth and Leona R. (Thompson) Rogers. She married Jan C. Hiatt on March 28, 1952; he died June 17, 2005.
Mrs. Hiatt graduated from LaFontaine High School in 1947 and was secretary of her alumni class. She retired as a nurse from Peabody Retirement Community in 1995. She was a member of St. Robert’s Catholic Church in North Manchester. She was also an avid gardener and she loved to make quilts for her family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Jan C. Hiatt, Claypool; two daughters, Debbie (Robert) Petrone, Mansfield, Mass., and Tammy (Steve) Rogers, North Manchester; four brothers, Kenneth (Mary) Rogers, Indianapolis; David (Connie) Rogers, Akron; and Steve Rogers and J.D. (Kathy) Rogers, both of Roann; a sister, Patty (Doug) King, Roann; six grandchildren, Dennis Hiatt, Claypool; Mindy Rogers, Jon Rogers, Joel Rogers, all of North Manchester; Danielle Morley, East Bridgewater, Mass.; and Meghan Petrone, Mansfield, Mass.; and a great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be held July 24, 11 a.m., at St. Robert’s Catholic Church, 1203 SR 114 E, North Manchester, with Father Thomas Kodakassery officiating. Calling will be July 23, 4 - 8 p.m., at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester; and July 24, one hour prior to services, at the church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
